Chuck Taylors and a slice of cardboard

Disclaimer: I am emphatically NOT writing a music review blog. I ran across this list on the in-tro-nets and came to believe that it was sextastic, and so I am only passing the love along. It's a list of amazing cuts that crossed the so called impenetrable "Rock vs Rap" barrier. I've listened to pretty much every genre out there and loved it, as long as it was good. Country doesn't count, because listening to country gives you AIDS. Listening to R&B just makes you a jerkoff.

If there's anything made of more pure win than this video, I haven't seen it

“The Lesson”, The Roots

“Release Yo’ Delf [Prodigy Mix]“, Method Man

“Walk This Way”, Run DMC & Aerosmith

“Sabotage, Beastie Boys

“B-Boy Stance”, k-os

“Jurass Finish First”, Jurassic 5

“Everything Is Everything”, Lauryn Hill

“All Falls Down”, Kanye West

“Freedom”, Jurassic 5

“All That You Are”, The Foreign Exchange

“Ghetto Heaven Part Two”, Common ft. Macy Gray

“Respiration”, Black Star

“Sunshine”, Handsome Boy Modeling School feat. just about every indieish Manhattan musician in the early aughts

INTRO to “Brothers Gonna Work It Out”, Chemical Brothers

“The Healer”, Erykah Badu

“Stay With You”, John Legend

“All I Wanna Do”, Jamie Lidell

When i was just a twinkle in my pappa's eye? Just a stain in my pap pap's BVDs? Yeah yeah.

Did you see Afro Samurai? That was RZA's last thing. It was fucking awesome.

Also, Jay-Z just did something new that's worth checking out.

You know me, as long as instruments are involved with the visible artist(s), I will give it a chance.
If it was born of a sampler and a drum machine, you'll have some difficulty getting me to take it seriously.

about me. not really.

dear you,

i don't talk about my child or being a mom. i don't talk about my garden. i won't mention my craftiness (often) or how much i save each week with coupons. if you're looking for that sort of thing, you're in the wrong place.

instead, let's abandon the tethers of domestication for a moment and remember what it's like to laugh at vulgarity and the world at large.

xo,
